Our heartfelt desire is to see God glorified and to develop a deeper relationship with and dependence on God. With this on our hearts, we are becoming part-time missionaries ministering with NextGen-CX and serving at Africa Theological Seminary (ATS) in Kenya alongside Paul and Donna Cox.

We have had a heart for discipling men, women, and children in the faith for over 25 years. Mario has been involved in pastoral care, serving as a missions pastor and men’s discipleship development since 1999, including SteelBridge ministries, 7 years of juvenile and adult prison ministry, starting and leading discipleship and accountability groups in various local churches and has been on over 30 mission trips to Mexico, Nicaragua, Honduras, Argentina, Brazil, the Navajo reservation, and a recent trip to ATS in Kenya. Joy has led children’s ministries and children’s worship for over 40 years, as well as adult worship for approximately 35 years. Mario and Joy have also gone to Mexico to minister to churches and communities in Toluca and Mexico City. We have 5 adult children and a granddaughter.

We disciple, train, and prepare the next generation of leaders: Mario will do this through teaching apologetics, mentoring students at ATS, located in Kitale, Kenya and helping with scholarships. While in the USA, he continues working on course development for ATS, establishing an endowment for scholarships at ATS, teaching at SteelBridge Ministries, and leading Bible studies and men’s discipleship groups. He also serves in his local church. Joy plans to go on future trips to Kenya with Mario to assist Donna Cox at ATS with teaching children’s ministry courses and mentoring students. While at home in New Mexico, now that she is no longer her mother’s primary caretaker (her mom went home to Jesus in June 2025)—she also leads a women’s marriage Bible study and is looking forward to serving regularly in her local church once again. She enjoys being a grandmother, teaching piano lessons, and is a part-time nanny to families with young children.
